A Funeral for a Friend

The Death of a Time Lord
A short story
A somewhat sad funeral, if the Doctor died

At first his funeral just started out small, just the six ponies and a dragon standing over his funeral pyre. They all thought that his last request was quite sick, burning his body to ashes so that he would be a threat to no one, but after all he had done it was the least that they could do. He was wearing his first suit, the one that Rarity had sewn up for him the day that he walked out of that blue box, figuring it's what the time pony would have wanted. All of them had tears upon their face as they watched it. They were on a beach that the TARDIS had chosen, a place called Bad Wolf Bay. No one questioned why he picked it, or why he wanted his remains to be destroyed in such a brutal way but they owed it to him.

"Are we really gonna do this twi?" Applejack looked at her friend, and Twilight looked her friend in the eye and said, "Would you choose a different way?" They all could smell the lamp oil coming from the pyre, but that wasn't what was bringing tears to their eyes, they had all lost a… a fantastic friend and companion. Fluttershy was the first to cry but everyone else joined in shortly after, they couldn't stop sobbing, even Spike. All remembering the adventures they had gone on, from the Ice Glaciers of the Ood Sphere to the Jungles of Villengard to the beginning to Equestria.
"Why does it hurt so much on the inside?" Pinkie Pie asked, even she couldn't start a bubbly mood in the rest of them. "Why did he have to go?"

"Because he loved us, all of us." Rarity spoke, through her tears she was still able to keep her appearance and poise up, if only just, "And I think we all loved him in return"

"Its what the doctor does, isn't it" A voice spoke from behind them and they all turned around. Behind them was a new Pony, looking out into the Bay, with golden hair and a pink long mane, similar to Fluttershy's but darker in color. Her cutie mark was a perfect Rose with an Hourglass, similar to the Doctor's own mark. They all couldn't take their eyes off her.

"Now who do you think you are, can't you see this is a private moment!" Rainbow Dash shot back at her. She was tense about the whole ordeal.
"Sorry, this is a bit… weird… this universe" The new pony spoke, and turned to them "What with the horse- pony… body" She looked into Twilight's eye and Twilight looked back, she recognized her from the Doctor's description.

"Your Rose… you traveled with him… in his own universe" Twilight's took a step forward to her, they both didn't break their gaze but Rose nodded back.
"I came to mourn my own loss… traveled through the void to get here, something he rarely did… and I brought mourners" All of them turned to the head of the beach and only Rose kept her mouth closed, There was a massive crowd in front of them, and not just Ponies. Twilight saw other Ponies with the same hourglass mark, other travelers of the doctor. She saw the Ood and some Judoon, Sontarins, creatures who she never even met or knew could exist. The crowd took up the whole beach but they all had come for the same reason.

The actual burning took place in the night  the fire was the only light on the beach. Twilight and Rarity both started the flame with their magic. It started off slow but eventually came to a roar when the lantern oil started catching aflame. The Ood Sigma stepped forward and spoke,

"The Doctor's song may be over, but the story never ends. We will sing you to sleep Doctor"

Fluttershy heard it first, a song more beautiful and sad… and hopeful then anything else she had heard before. Others slowly picked up on it. In a language that very few understood but it all meant the same thing, a farewell to the Time Pony who loved the world.
